Why a Seat Ibiza Replacement Key Won't Work
The Ibiza is now fitted with a brand new generation of driver assistances. Travel Assist ensures that your vehicle is able to keep up with traffic while Lane Assist eliminates the stress of changing lanes.
Remove the battery compartment cover on the key fob (A). Using a flat-head screwdriver or a thumb nail, push the cover upwards, then replace the CR2025.
Dead Coin Battery
If your key fob stopped working and you haven't been capable of reprogramming it with a new code, then the most likely reason is a dead coin battery. The replacement of this battery should bring it back to life and running again. You can do it yourself in under 10 minutes.
To change the battery in your seat ibiza replacement key, flip it open from the non-metal ringed side first. There's a simple clip-on lid, that you can lever open using your nail. The old battery can be pulled out through the hole in the middle. Note: If you replace the battery incorrectly, or using a battery not suitable, it can damage the remote. Always replace the battery using one with the same size, voltage and specification as the original.
If your key device was submerged in water you may also need to clean the chip prior to replacing the battery. This is particularly important when you drop it in the ocean or in soapy washing water. This should be taken care of immediately as exposure to water can damage the chip's electronic circuit and cause your key fob to stop functioning.
Worn Buttons
The most common reason the Seat Ibiza replacement key doesn't work is due to the battery in the key being dead. It's a simple fix that takes just some minutes. Key fobs also stop working if the buttons have worn out. It's simple to fix and only will require you to replace the key shell that was used to replace it with the new one.
It is essential to replace the button cell battery in a timely manner or the key fob could be damaged. It is recommended to always make sure you use a new battery with the same size, voltage, and specification. It's also essential that the side of the new battery is towards the upwards.
The key fob is protected by rubber seals that will keep water out. However, submerging the key fob in water can cause the seals to break and harm the electronic chip inside. This is the most likely scenario when your key fob is placed in the rain or accidentally falls into the pool. If your key fob still isn't working after replacing it or reprogramming, the receiver module may be defective.
Water Damage
The key fob comes with rubber seals that prevent water from getting into the electronic chip inside. However this doesn't stop occasional bath or splash. If your pet has been through a wash cycle or swimming in the ocean it could have damaged the chip.

This can be corrected by removing the battery and then cleaning the chip with isopropyl or electronic cleaner. Then let it dry completely before placing it back. If the chip is damaged it is necessary to replace with a brand new chip.
If your key fob still does not work after changing the battery and reprogramming it, there could be a problem with the receiver module. This is the part of the car that receives signals from the key fob and transmits signals to the key ignition system. If G28 have an extra key fob you can test it. It should trigger the ignition system light come on and the central locking button activate. If this doesn't happen, the receiver module may be defective. This is a costly repair however it can be repaired by an expert from your local garage.
Radio Interference
If the car's radio seems to be acting out of order or the key fob is no longer working, it could be caused by an interference problem with the receiver module that is in the key. This can be fixed with the replacement key using an entirely new receiver module from Seat parts.
To replace the battery, simply flip out the key part and using your thumb nail or a screwdriver that has a flat head, gently pry upwards the key fob's compartment cover. Remove the old CR2025 battery and replace it with a brand new battery, ensuring that the polarity is right. You can also use a standard key with transponder chips that were previously on a worn or damaged key. This can be coded, and cut to fit your vehicle as needed.
Faulty Receiver Module
The receiver module on the fob that you have in your keys transmits radio signals to the car. If the fob stops working, it could be that the module has become defective. You can determine this with an OBDII scanner device or by contacting your dealer.
The remote keyless entry system is vulnerable to interference from other devices operating at the same frequency. This can include mobile phones, electrical devices and even household appliances.
If the key fob is in contact with clean tap water, it may be possible for you to clean the chip using paper towels and isopropyl alcohol. If the fob's electronic chip has been submerged in soapy or salty water or left for a long time on a damp surface, it is most likely to be damaged and require to be replaced.
To change the battery, use a small flat-head screwdriver or a fingernail to push open the compartment that houses the button cell batteries (B). Remove the old battery. Insert a new CR2025 battery, making sure the "+" direction is facing upwards.
